I did need this this week! It’s too easy to wallow in work and the terrible state of things (understatement of the year)… I love the idea of being grateful for all the good things and happy times as an act of resistance.
Getting live reactions from my friend as she finished reading onyx storm gave me joy this week 🫶🏻
Thanks for reading, friend! It’s a work in progress and some days feel a lot rougher than others. Thus me writing this post for me as much as for everyone else.
And LOL live reactions *always* make me laugh, they’re the best 🥰
I love this message and I think it really brings up this idea that, no matter what's going on in the world, it's our birthright to be joyful, even if it's just in the smallest of things. Our daily lives can serve as a reminder to ourselves and others that, while we can't control the news, we can witness the light in the world and find peace amongst the chaos.
This week, I got to spend a day with friends having brunch and I'm celebrating (almost) finishing A Clash of Kings (damn that book took me forever to read). <3
1. Seeing the looooong icicles outside the window, almost as if the water is stretching as far as it can in a single drop, frozen in time
2. Spending time with my girlfriend in the moments that seem mundane, but are actually full of so much peace and calm and joy, whether it be sitting and playing Qwirkle with you or snuggling in bed enjoying the warmth of each other's presence
3. Coming together to surprise and celebrate the accomplishments of one of my friends after an award ceremony was taken away, giving them as much respect as we can to encourage them for what they've done and who they are without them feeling too embarrassed
Omg!!!! A Bilal in my comments!!!! Well there's my happy moment for today. :)
Love all these memories, they're beautiful in their simplicity. Especially the third -- I'm really happy you and your friends came together to celebrate your friend. Sounds well-deserved and very meaningful. Thank you so much for reading & sharing, Bilal! 💛
It was very nice to sit down and listen to this today, especially since I'm dealing with all of the U.S. stuff in real time whenever I head to work. And I shared this with my girlfriend, and she had tears in her eyes and said, "I think Paige and I are going to get along great and im excited to meet her!"
Absolutely. Been thinking of you and everyone else who works at a job tied to the government in some way. I'm glad this post allowed you to take a step back and focus on some of the thousand little good things that are you surrounding you, which may be hard to see under the shadow of the Enormous Bad Thing. Hugs from Germany. 🫂
And awwww 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹 right back at her, I know we will get along great!!!
So true that we need to be able to embrace, joy, Paige, however worried we might be.
My seven-year old granddaughter learning Do-re-mi from The Sound of Music, so she could sing it at her great-grandmother's (my mother-in-law') wake was a moment of joy. Hugs from people I've never hugged before, because we had both lost someone special.
I’m very sorry about the loss of your mother-in-law, but I’m so glad your granddaughter learned Do-Re-Mi and was able to bring happiness to those there. Funerals are the perfect example of clinging onto joy and happiness and laughter in difficult times.

"It's our birthright to be joyful" WHAT A POWERFUL LINE!!!!! Love. That.
Love a good brunch with friends, always. & Ah! Funny! I'll be reading A Feast for Crows after my current book :)
