Just got around to reading this, so beautifully written as always, Paige. Amazing to read about someones life put into words and you think wow what a life and what a special person they were and unique but he was just living life being the person God made him to be but what made him have so many beautiful qualities you mentioned. Is it his parents, classmates, siblings, in his case being in a war, the person you choose to spend life with, your children, work colleagues who each have a piece influencing you to mold who you can turn out to be which goes back to the saying it takes a village to raise a child. God is always working around us to be a better person. All the unique qualities you mentioned were all rolled up when you looked into his blue eyes. Never a truer statement when you walked up to him and he looked at you, you broke out in a smile. How lucky was your mom/sisters/grandchildren to grow up having such a great and interesting example of a dad and grandfather who enjoyed life and all it offered. I am so lucky to have met him. ❤️
Aw thank you, this comment made me tear up 🥹 I love the idea that when written down it seems so remarkable, but the reality is this is just the way he lived his life day to day--it was the person he was meant to be! And we all have the ability to live our own remarkable lives. It DOES take a village to raise a child...and also a village to raise an adult, and continue to mold, develop, and teach them! My family was incredibly lucky to have Vic as an important role "in our village." I'm glad you got to meet him as well. ❤️He was a great example of how to live a full and purposeful life. I will definitely carry that around with me forever!!
I remember so much of my grandmother through the years. It is amazing how many times things in life will remind me of her. I know you will do the same with “Vic”. He could not have been more proud of all the grandchildren, spouses and great-grandchildren.
You are a special bunch. ❤️
May his life-long learning and interest in his fellow travelers live on through all of you.
They do ❤️ but I find myself missing his voice and conversation a lot lately. I take a lot of comfort in this quote: "Be the things you love most about the person who is gone"
I find myself thinking of him often. It makes me happy when I do, to know I can still carry his spirit, wisdom, and goofiness along with me through this life ❤️
Sorry to hear about your grandad dying, Paige. Sounds remarkable and like he had a very full life. It's wonderful when a grandparent is also your friend.

Sounds like he had a full life! But it’s still hard to say goodbye to the physical body. Lovely tribute. You carry him in your bones.
I find myself thinking of him often. It makes me happy when I do, to know I can still carry his spirit, wisdom, and goofiness along with me through this life ❤️
