Love it! My boyfriend and I have a little journal in which we list small things that make us happy. We started it after I saw the play "Every Brilliant Thing." In a bit over a year, we're up to over 200 things. So fun to read back through them!

Also, shout out for shouting out QWERTY podcast!!!! <3

Oh my gosh, how beautiful is that! I love that you do that with him. I’m trying to document ANYTHING that gives me inspiration, but so far, it’s definitely been all the things that make me happy. Maybe I prefer to immortalize those moments above all else. :)

I LOVE this! I've also heard it called a Commonplace Journal. I've done this every now and then on my phone and it's a great for inspiration. But I need my own (physical) cloud journal! Sometimes going back through quotes make me smile so hard, just like all of yours you listed above, they made me feel so connected to the world and the people in it. Anyway, you inspired me to dig up that note on my phone. Here's one from YOU that I wrote down. "I'm not a ten out of ten." (Jim?) "Not with that attitude!" (PGZ) xoxo

Oh my gosh! That note CRACKED me up. I don’t remember that at all and am so glad you documented it!!! That’s awesome that you’ve been doing a form of this too.

& yes, I’ve wanted to do this for a while (and even told myself I should just do it with the notes on my phone), but there’s just another side of me that I tap into when I physically write something down. My creativity is sparked better that way. That’s why I love doing first drafts of short stories on paper.

I’m actually quite teary-eyed reading through this, but instantaneously calm and happy. It reminded me that we get to choose what we see and feel ❤️ FWIW, I (also) always feel my ideas never “measure up” to what I see and read around me, is that always the case? Is our self-doubt a protective shield, the part of us that fears rejection and disappointment? If so, the only way is to keep confronting her.. keep putting yourself (and your work) out there until she learns that fear is but a part of the process ☺️

I was tear-eyed when I read Anne Lamott's, so this feels full circle! I'm glad you liked it. We definitely get to choose what we see, and I realize how easy it is to tune OUT the world and focus on our phone/music/book/etc. It's nice to go about the world with eyes and ears wide open.

Yes, I do think self-doubt is some sort of protective shield, to stop us from doing what is "scary." You're definitely right -- fear is part of the process, and we are stronger for pushing through it! :)
