❤️ I love the disclaimer, as a night Owl, no matter how many times I try morning pages, mornings are not a time it will get done.

A necessary disclaimer for us night owls!! Let’s work together to rebrand it as “Daily Pages” 😂

Have no doubt you were meant to be a writer! Throughout your ENTIRE life, you wrote stories…. Think of all those stories you wrote as a kid. And we used to absolutely delight at the beautiful murals you drew before you could even write….they were full of plots and characters! It’s just who you are! AND you are good at it! So glad you have found your way back to enjoying it.

You are so very lucky as your writing definitely makes you observe and enjoy the world around you in a much deeper way. Same with my painting….I’ll look at a shadow for a long time, observing the colors, edges… and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t try to observe some special qualities of a tree. (I can’t help myself, I’m obsessed with trees). So I would argue the best thing about being an artist is observing the world around you a little more intentionally and that’s the real gift. ❤️🙂

100% agree! How lucky we are to be artists and tap into that side of us when we observe the world. There's so much out there to soak up! :) Thank you for reading ❤️❤️❤️

From one writer to another (who has also been pushing through spirts of doubt as you had/have) you are doing amazing! Also, I love that you read your own post, it brought so much more life to it than the automated voice ever could have. Also also, yes we love Anne Shirley (I’ve been obsessed with her since my childhood days, and I have always felt such a strong relation to how she views her world with how I view mine). I even jotted some notes down in my notebook about this post, so thank you very much for sharing this lovely post and even inspiring me!!!

Jumping on the bandwagon to rebrand to ‘Daily Pages’ because I was sitting here thinking- okay, I gotta wake up at 5a so I can complete an hr of writing before my day starts 🤣

There's not much I love more than stories of people reconnecting to their creativity. I've been thinking of working through The Artist's Way for YEARS and it seems like I can't scroll anywhere without seeing someone raving about its merits. I guess it's time! I think this is something all creatives go through repeatedly in our lives and you're right, the fear must be addressed head on through action. It's the only way! Lovely piece! (Also those earrings!!!)

I had been seeing it a lot before I started the program too! I didn't know it at the time, but "synchronicity" is a big part of it, so I now know (or believe) that it wasn't just me *randomly* seeing it everywhere, but the universe putting it in my path. Through the program, you may come to that conclusion as well! I hope you'll give it a go. :)

Also, ahhh, the earrings -- so adorable, I know!!! Here's the link to them: https://www.fredaldous.co.uk/en-eu/products/yellow-owl-workshop-pencil-book-earrings

Yes! I feel that too. I've definitely noticed a rise of it's popularity following Doechii's rise to meteoric success and her previous YouTube videos as she went through it herself. I just finished The Creative Act by Rick Ruben and think there are a lot of parallel concepts between them from what I've picked up on through the years. Adding that link to my wishlist now! lol

Oooh, looking up "The Creative Act" right now online, I can see the parallels! Did you enjoy it? My two friends and I have been itching to do another 'creative book club' together but we seem to struggle to find the right book. Would you recommend this one?

Shelby✨'s avatar

I would! He is primarily involved in the music industry/production, but his concepts apply to the creative process in general. He has a bit of a spiritual approach as well, not preachy, but bordering the "woo-woo". Personally, this works for me, since I believe creativity is an innately spiritual practice. It's the kind of book you can pick up and flip to a random page and probably still manage to get something from, which I also really like! I'd def recommend trying it, it helped get my juices flowing for sure!

Paige Gardner's avatar

Sweet, thanks for the recommendation! Julia Cameron also borders on "woo-woo," so I think The Artist's Way will be perfect for you :) It took me a few weeks to get into, but honestly I also believe creativity to be a spiritual practice and it was cool to find the right words to put into that feeling. Anyhoo, thanks for reading and for the recommendation! If you end up doing TAW, I'd love an update in the future :) ~
